From the ADO Representative

CSDL To Host Regional! Win A Spot on the U.S. Team!

It’s that time again! The winners of the next round of ADO Qualifiers will go to the Regional Playoff.  The winners of the Playoff will go to the National Finals to try to win a spot on the 2007 World Cup XVI U.S. Team!

The National Finals will be held in Denver on Friday, September 28, 2007 in conjunction with the Colorado Open Tournament.  The Regional, your only chance to represent the CSDL at the National event, will be held on August 19, 2007 following the Top of the Rock Tournament at the Dead Ant Tavern.  The winners of the Regional will compete in Denver against the best players in the nation!

Last year we had a record turnout at both the Regional and the National.  However, only two men and two women from the CSDL competed in the Regional and only the two women made it to the Nationals.  The rest were from Denver or other areas of the Region.  Because of the phenomenal number of participants our Region was able to send several men and three women to last year’s National in Denver.  This year we want to send even more.

We need players.  We need support.  We need YOU!

This is how it works.  Each player pays $10 to shoot in a qualifier.  Points are accrued for each win.  The overall winners are credited the money for either a series of qualifying shoots or a particular shoot (both methods of dispersing money will be used for this round of qualifiers) up to $110.  This is the cost to send one player to the Regional.  The number of qualified players who will have their way paid to the Regional depends on how much money is raised. It is all about player participation.  If you don’t shoot, you can’t win. The more players who come to the Qualifiers, the more players we can send to the Regional.

For example, if we hold ten qualifiers with two players at each qualifier, this will generate $200.  The money will be used to send the top two players with the winner receiving $110 and the second place finisher receiving $90.  The second place player will have to make up the difference of $20 to play in the Regional.  If six players show up for each of the qualifiers, $600 will be generated and the top five players will have their way paid to the Regional with $50 left over for the sixth player.

Glenn Duncan, our local ADO Representative, will be holding as many qualifying shoots as possible. The number of Qualifiers will depend on participation and interest.  Last year we were able to send two men and two women to the Regional.  This year we want to send more.

The number of spots available to go to the National depends on how many players participate in the Regional.  The cost to send one player to the National is $880.  For every eight players at the Regional, one will go to the National.

You CAN qualify! It’s not difficult.  The more qualifiers you attend, the better your chances are of winning.

Don’t want to shoot?  You can still support your local players by donating money to the ADO fund or simply coming out to cheer them on as they play.  Keep watching the newsletter and checking the website and the flyers for upcoming information on the dates and locations for the Qualifiers.  Let Glenn know if you would like to be added to his mailing list or his call list for the latest information on the events.  He can be contacted at DuncanDarter@aol.com or by phone at (719)382-7203 or (719)330-4051.

Come out and qualify and you could win the chance to compete against the best!

Support your fellow shooters!  Support your League!  Support Colorado Springs!

From the Vice President

Another Pikes Peak Open has come and gone.  I hope everyone had a good time.  I hope you noticed the nice pieces of carpet.  It was donated by Joey Kirby.  The CSDL would like to thank him very much.  The CSDL would also like to thank Glenn Duncan for cutting the carpet to size.  The CSDL is always looking for raffle (door prize) donations, if you like to donate please contact Sherrie Nordstrom at (719) 392- 3461.  I would like to give a big thanks to Bill, Carol, Rose, Melvin, Wyatt Tony and Andrea.  They worked very hard all weekend long to ensure the PPO ran smoothly.  Also many thanks to Carol’s daughters for keeping the water bottles filled and the pencils sharp.
